CAMP FAQS

AUDIENCE

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR THIS EVENT?

Our age range is usually 10 to 60! While our average age is around 25, you won't be alone no matter where you fall. For our youngest heroes we recommend 10 as a good starting age to get the most out of the experience, but you know yourself best and are welcome to attend earlier.

We believe strongly in the power of inter-generational communities, and believe that folks of all ages have much to learn from one another.

IS THIS JUST FOR HARRY POTTER FANS?

No! We include all kinds of fandoms, and while there may be some references throughout, the majority of programs are not fandom-centric. You'll be fine even if you're a muggle.

I’VE NEVER GONE TO A LEADERSHIP AND/OR ACTIVISM TRAINING BEFORE - IS THIS FOR ME?

This is perfect for you! GLA is designed to be a space where those of all experience levels can learn and ask questions without fear of shaming.

I’M AN EXPERIENCED ORGANIZER, IS THIS EVENT FOR ME?

Yes! Beyond our advanced program offerings, we think the opportunity to see the fan activism methodology in action is a great opportunity for even the most experienced organizers.

CONTENT

IS THIS PROGRAM POLITICAL?

Granger Leadership Academy is a program of the Harry Potter Alliance, a 501c3 nonprofit organization that uses pop culture to make activism accessible. GLA is a nonpartisan event, but it is not apolitical. That means that while we won't advocate for a particular political party or candidate, we will talk about how to advocate for social issues in politics. You can read more about our platform here.

I’M WORRIED ABOUT HAVING THESE KINDS OF DISCUSSIONS WITH YOUNGER KIDS. WHAT’S THAT LIKE?

Our experience has taught us that our youngest heroes are frequently underestimated. We believe these topics are important to discuss early. You shouldn't feel the need to censor yourself!

ACCESS

I HAVE A DISABILITY AND/OR NEURODIVERGENCY, CAN YOU MAKE SURE THINGS ARE ACCESSIBLE FOR ME?

Absolutely. Our staff will be in touch with you after you register to talk about your specific needs, but please feel free to reach out to gla@thehpalliance.org in advance if you have concerns or questions.

CAN I REFUND MY TICKET?

No. Because of the nature of this event, we are not offering refunds on purchased tickets.

CAN I TRANSFER MY TICKET?

Yes. If you would like to transfer your ticket, please email gla@thehpalliance.org with the name and email address of the person you are transferring it to.

DO YOU HAVE SCHOLARSHIPS?
