Social Media Copywriter
Housed in the Campaigns Department (the Department of Magical Causes and Communications), the Social Media Team strategizes, organizes, and produces all content for the HPA’s Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram accounts. This volunteer position will write draft copy for social media platforms as well as assisting with copywriting for other projects in the Campaigns Department such as email blasts, press releases, and occasionally the website and submissions for the quarterly newsletter, The W.A.N.D. We’re looking for someone with a natural talent for writing, deep familiarity with social media trends, and a reliable work ethic.
This position reports to the Social Media Manager and the Campaigns Director and will require an average of 7 volunteer hours per week.
Responsibilities:
Write draft copy for social media platforms. Writing assignments are given ~once/week - if you are not able to write for a given time period, that must be communicated in a timely manner to the Social Media Manager.
Suggest content for social media platforms.
Help brainstorm and strategize messaging for campaigns.
Keep abreast of all relevant updates to social media channels and trends.
Attend regular Social Media Team meetings and occasional all-staff meetings via Google Meet.
Qualifications:
Experience writing copy a plus
Familiarity with Google Drive, Microsoft Office, and all common social media platforms
Organized, efficient, and dedicated self-starter
Interest in social change and activism
Interest in stories, fandom, and popular culture

Engagement Coach
Housed in the Campaigns Department (the Department of Magical Causes and Communications), the Fandom Forward Engagement Team works to make our community inviting, accessible, and fun for our members. The Engagement Team handles both broad engagement projects and one-on-one interactions with members. This volunteer position will work closely with Fandom Forward members to build relationships and strengthen our community. We’re looking for someone who is friendly, passionate about community-building, and has a reliable work ethic.
This position reports to the Engagement Team Lead and will require an average of 7 volunteer hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop funnels (i.e. welcome email series) to help new members learn about all of the ways they can be involved
Work 1:1 with members to help identify opportunities for deeper engagement and growth
Follow up with members who seem to be disengaging (i.e. unsubscribes)
Work with donors to help identify their passions and thank them for their support
Drive ongoing community engagement projects
QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent written communication
Organized, efficient, and dedicated self-starter
Experience using databases a plus
Experience with donor management, outreach, or community development activities a plus
Interest in social change and activism
Interest in stories, fandom, and popular culture
